Washington National Cathedral
The Foundation provided four grants to the Washington National Cathedral to support its interfaith program of lectures and public events, such as the Abrahamic Roundtable, a high-level set of meetings where select representatives of Judaism, Christianity and Islam engage in theological discussions. One of the conferences supported by the Foundation was the 2006 Interfaith Education Initiative Conference, which explored the different and similar approaches to Scripture for each of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim religions.
As stated by the Rev. Dr. Carol M. Flett, Interfaith Programs Coordinator of the Washington National Cathedral College:
“The grants from the El-Hibri Charitable Foundation supported our interfaith program which pursues interfaith dialogue and collaboration, particularly among the three Abrahamic faiths. By exploring the inter-relationships and co-existence of practices and the texts of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, the interfaith program was able to further the education of and relationships in the interfaith community. By offering four interfaith film dialogues supported by grants from the El-Hibri Charitable Foundation, we were able to engage in community building and interfaith dialogue with the Washington metropolitan area, which included the Washington Hebrew Congregation, the All Dulles Area Muslim Society, and the Rumi Forum in Washington, DC.”
