Unity Productions Foundation
The Foundation provided grants to support the production of two films: Prince Among Slaves and Inside Islam: What a Billion Muslims Really Think created by Unity Productions Foundation, a non-profit educational foundation. These films promote justice, equality, human rights and tolerance and facilitate mutual understanding and respect for diversity and different religious traditions.
As stated by Michael Wolfe, Executive Producer of the films and Co-founder of Unity Productions Foundation:
“The El-Hibri Charitable Foundation strives to address the great social challenges of our day through an inclusive approach that stresses education and discussion. It does this with a strategic vision and a genuine concern for the organizations it partners with to pursue these goals. UPF has been the proud recipient of two grants for films addressing social justice. These grants were crucial in helping us complete the films for airing on PBS. With the airing on PBS, these films reach millions with an international, as well as national impact, addressing issues that are essential for justice, mutual respect and peace in today’s world.”
Prince Among Slaves
This film is based on a true story of an African prince enslaved in the American South in the early 18th century. It chronicles the story of Abdul Rahman, a successful military general and heir to a West African nation, after being sold as a slave in Natchez, Mississippi. The film is regarded as a remarkable story of a highly cultured, trilingual African prince, who endured the humiliation of slavery without ever losing his dignity or hope for freedom.

Inside Islam, What A Billion Muslims Really Think
This documentary film, based on the largest Gallup poll of the Muslim world ever conducted, reports on the poll's surprising findings and implications, and brings it to life, interviewing researchers and others who conducted the public opinion polling. The film focuses on issues of gender justice, terrorism and democracy, and it challenges the notion that Muslims and the West are on a collision course. Like the research, the film highlights a shared relationship that is based on facts, not fear. The poll, motivated by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack, was a multi-year undertaking.
